Windows

Cleaning

The windows are cleaned during the wash process with more time focused on polishing them later on. The inside of the windows are also cleaned with an alcohol solution to remove dirt and residue from interior surfaces, which often leads to blurry and smeary glass, difficult to see through and dangerous to drive with especially in direct sunlight.

Polishing

Windows often have staining from fallout such as tree sap, rain and from general cleaning over time. This staining can be exposed by wiping with a damp microfibre towel and you'll see the streaks of fallout which can ruin the look of a detailed car unless properly addressed whilst acting to the detriment of the function of the window itself, preventing water from beading and running off the windscreen and providing a view of your surroundings. Polished and coated windows, whilst being pleasing to look at, make windows easier to clean in the future and serves an important safety role, namely you can actually see out of them!

Each window is polished with the same product and pad as the paintwork. This may seem odd at first, however, it's not the compound and pad so much as the  mechanical movement being what removes the staining. Although this level of polishing won't remove scratches, cerium oxide can be used (with a lot of elbow grease) to remove scratches and provide a clearer window, important for a windscreen in preventing glare.

Attention is then focused on the borders of the glass. Debris and rain often leave a line of stubborn dirt build-up along the edge, most noticeable on the windscreen, which is removed with fine trim removal tools and compound. This prevents scratching the glass and removes the unsightly lines that can otherwise draw your eye compared to the rest of the now glistening glass.

Protection

Once the windows are thoroughly cleaned and polished. A nano-coating is applied and left to cure to leave both an aesthetically pleasing shine and a water repellency unparalleled by claying or razor blading alone, adding to the function of a windscreen first of all, secondly to form an aesthetic beading which will bring a smile to your face on a miserably wet day.
